CentrILMark said in the Chicago Tribune Forum:
All this talk of trades belies the fact that even the star signing happy Yankees of the 90's and 2000's Championships based part of their success on developing talented players with winning personalities from their own farm system. Derek Jeter, Bernie Williams, Jorge Posada, Andy Pettitte, Mariano Rivera these guys were the core of winning churned on by star slugging signees and gun for hire stud pitchers. The Boston Red Sox have had the same home grown winning personas for years. So who have the Cubs developed as those type of clutch winning personalities from their farm system? The Cubs are the laughing stock of baseball because everybody knows they've never had a tradition of clutch home grown playoff studs. Forget a preponderance of them to win championships, they don't have any. And Wrigley Field has just turned into a camp for mentally whipped losers who have settled for 'loveable losers' for way too many years, the chickens have come home to roost. Many of them drunken bleacher slobs dropping beach balls and foul mouthed tirades on opposing players who have to laugh or freak at the loserish cesspool that has been brewing in Wrigley Field for the last 60 years. I really don't think the Cubs will ever win in Wrigley field there's just too much acceptacne of losing baseball and subsequent dark karma. From Lou Brock, Lee Smith, Bruce Sutter, Rick Ruschell, Greg Maddux, Mark Grace, Louis Gonzalez, and on and on. If the fans wouldn't have kept showing up in droves and accepted the horribly disinterested in winning franchise, this crap never would have happened. Shame on Chicago. A city their size other than the Jordan era, what winners have they had. One Superbowl team that should have won more championships if they would have would have kept Buddy Ryan another year or two. Blackhawks championships: 0, Cubs: 0, Bears from 1964 to 84: 1 and since last 24 years: 0. Bulls before or after Jordan some 30 years of nothing.
